Una corte federal de apelaciones de EE.UU. ha rechazado una solicitud de libertad de información presentada por la Unión Americana de Libertades Civiles (ACLU, por sus siglas en inglés), al dictaminar que el Gobierno no tiene que revelar la información sobre las víctimas de los “asesinatos selectivos” de la CIA llevados a cabo por aviones no tripulados, informa la revista ‘ABA Journal’.
De acuerdo con el informe, la solicitud de la ACLU intentaba obtener datos sobre el uso de aviones no tripulados militares, como sus objetivos, su ubicación y el número de personas que murieron a causa de sus ataques.
La CIA, por su parte, argumentó que los documentos solicitados no se pueden divulgar debido a su naturaleza sensible, un argumento que un tribunal inferior había aceptado en un juicio sumario.
“La declaración jurada ‘demuestra ampliamente’ que la información no divulgada se refiere a actividades de inteligencia y a actividades en el extranjero cuya divulgación podría perjudicar considerablemente la seguridad nacional”, dijo el tribunal de apelaciones en su opinión unánime.
